Stanwick Races Group consists of a small group of villagers who meet about 4 times a year at A Touch of Eden Nursery, Stanwick, to plan the annual Stanwick Easter Races. The Stanwick Races are a major annual event for this friendly village, and a warm welcome to all athletes is assured.
The whole village is involved in the organisation and preparation, with local people manning the Car Parks and providing friendly and encouraging marshalling, apart from all the other tasks involved in organising a successful Race Day.
With so many visitors to the village, it is very important to have clear signs so that the athletes can find their way to the Car Parks, Changing area and Registration area. The course has to be carefully marked and Marshals situated at frequent intervals. Drink Stations need to be set up, Road Closure signs, cones and signs to warn motorists about the runners need to be put in place.
Everything possible is done to ensure the safety and well-being of the runners, spectators and residents.
Members of Stanwick Races Group and other charity organisations are on site early in the morning preparing for the visitors
Freshly cooked food is available, before, during and after the race outside the village hall, by courtesy of the members of the Parochial Church Council, whose bacon rolls are becoming a legend in their own right!!
